This course provides over 110 exercises designed to improve core strength, flexibility, balance, and strength. The book contains a complete chair program and premat program for seniors or anyone trying to improve core strength. The course is written and developed by Ginger Schirmer, PHD, RD who is an exercise physiologist and certified in both yoga and Pilates. Individuals will need to complete a course post test (passing grade 70) and evaluation in order to receive a certificate. Course level: beginner to intermediate.

Course Objectives

  • List Learn Pilates and core stabilizing exercises that maintain functional movement.
  • Learn strengthening and balance training exercises for fall prevention.
  • Learn exercises that incorporate foam rollers, stability ball and Theraband for balance, gait, and core strength training.
  • Establish a chair “core” training program for the geriatric and special populations patient.
  • Learn exercises integrating multiple props into an exercise program to increase the core challenge to enhance athletic performance and aid in injury prevention.

This course is co-sponsored by MED2000 who is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider (ME001) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will receive 6 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for this home study course (CPE level I and II).
